More Channuka Across BANA

Caring Cook Off

By: Max Heinrich | Mazkir, Teaneck

Tzevet Teaneck had incredible cook off to see who could make the better latkas. We got a little crazy and added food coloring. It was so much fun and a great bonding experience.

Cleveland Chanukah Scavenger Hunt

By: Leora Taub | Rosh Chevraya Aleph

This Sunday all of alef and taf (2nd-5th grade) gathered for a special Chanukah themed scavenger hunt. The chanichim went through 8 different stations where they played games run by their counselors including pin the candle on the menorah, gelt and spoon race, and shootout the candles. At the end of every station each group received a hebrew letter which was a clue to find the missing jug of oil hidden around the shul. After the last station the kids all attempted to figure out the clues which ended up leading them all to the lishka where they searched for and eventually found the missing oil. Afterwards everyone came back together for some fun Chanukah trivia while enjoying some delicious donuts. We had a lot of fun! We’ll see you next time!

Teaneck Hits the Slopes

By: Robyn Adams | Director of BANE

We can’t think of a better way to spend Chanukah Sunday than sliding on the slopes with friends!  Zach, 7th and 8th graders, enjoyed an afternoon at Campgaw Mountain barrelling down a powdery snow covered mountain at thrilling speeds! The highlight was then effortlessly riding their tubes back up, to endure the experience all over again! On the van ride home, all one could hear were the conversations about when they would get to go again!

Florida Manhigut Chanukah Party

By: Yaffa Shekhter | Rosh Manhigut

Florida Manhigut celebrated the last night of Chanukah with a party in Hollywood. We had lots of sufganiyot, pizza, and latkes. Our Shinshin, Roei, ran a donut decorating game where each color of frosting was next to a discussion question about Chanukah. We also had a white elephant gift exchange where everyone had a number and picked a gift – and you were allowed to trade gifts with anyone who had a smaller number. Both activities were a big hit! Chanukah Sameach!

Moshava Wildrose Maccabi Games

By: Rachel Amar | Madricha, Florida

The Maccabi Games event joint with Moshava Wildrose on Sunday was really fun and exciting, especially for the kids that participated. The madrichim played a variety of games with the chanichim, including many sports and interactive games. One of the entertaining games was where you are blindfolded, and have to guess how many chocolate chips are in a spoonful of marshmallow fluff. It was really fun to watch the chanichim guess the correct answer. Many families showed up on Sunday for an awesome event!
