Camp Moshava Ba'ir NJ - Programming!Updated: 4/1/2010 Daily Programming Like all Moshavot, our Machane takes great pride in our programming, which combines a full complement of daily activities including swimming, arts and crafts, music, teva (nature), photography, dance, cooking, tennis, basketball, hockey, volleyball, baseball, soccer, and learning with month-long educational tochniot that experientially explore pivotal moments in the history and experience of Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. Our daily schedule is punctuated by peulot (activities) dedicated to experiencing Zionism and Israel in such diverse ways as living on a kibbutz, touring Israel, serving in the army, and much more. At Moshava Ba'ir, we believe deeply in the unique Bnei Akiva brand of camping as a learning and growing experience. One important manifestation of this is the camp "Noseh" or educational program. Each summer, our camp takes on the character of a particular period in the history of the Jewish people and Israel, and our ever-creative staff employ art, music, dance, and theater to re-create and re-experience powerful moments and places of our history over the course of the summer. Past summer themes have included "Tzionut u'Medinat Yisrael" (modern Zionism and Israel) and "Moreshet Avot" (the heritage of our forefathers). Over the course of 8 weeks, campers may farm on the kibbutz, party at a celebration of the establishment of the State of Israel, re-experience the amazing stories of the Aliyot of the Edot haMizrach, and get strong during a "Yom Tzava" (army day). We will meet heroes like Herzl, Rav Kook, and David Ben Gurion, reach the heights of spirituality in Tzfat, make wine in the Golan Heights, snorkel in Eilat, and sample the tastes, sounds, and smells of Israel in the Shuk Machane Yehuda in Jerusalem- all without leaving camp! Sports We are proud of our sports program, which is focused on middot, sportsmanship, and creating a warm inclusive environemnt to learn, grow, and have fun. We have terrific sports facilities, including outdoor basketball, hockey, and tennis courts, a baseball diamond, and soccer fields. In addition, the Frisch campus has a huge air conditioned gym for basketball, volleyball, and more. Our sports run every day, rain or shine! During electives (chugim), campers can choose to take skill-building workshops in basketball, baseball, and tennis. Swimming We believe that learning to swim, improving as a swimmer, and just having fun in the pool are integral parts of the summer camp experience. Every day our campers have both free swim and Red Cross certified swim instruction. We have low instructor to camper ratios and WSI certified lifeguards. Electives (Chugim) We offer daily chugim, specialized electives, in such diverse areas as fine arts, journalism, rocketry, cooking and baking, martial arts, basketball, baseball, fitness, and yoga. Trips Our older campers take major trips on a weekly basis, including parks, museums, sporting events, amusement parks and more! Our younger campers take trips that are fun and also close to camp and not as frequent. A highlight of the summer for our oldest campers is the opportunity each month to experience a full day and overnight at Camp Moshava in Indian Orchard.
Personal Coaching While our normal day ends at 4 pm, we are happy to offer personal coaching and training in swimming, baseball, tennis, basketball, fine arts, and more from 4-5 pm on a daily basis.
