Meet Our Staff:
CAMP MANAGER
Dikla Weitzner comes to Moshava Ba'ir with a professional background in event planning and coordinating. She heads the Chessed committee at Netivot Hatorah, and does extensive volunteer work. Dikla is our point person for year-round operations of Moshava Ba'ir and has been involved in Bnei Akiva since Grade 3. She is excited to have 3 of her 4 children at Moshava Ba'ir this summer along with her!
ROSH MOSHAVA (Head of Camp)
Yudie Reinitz is the Rosh Moshava once again at Moshava Ba'ir Toronto this summer. Yudie is currently serving as the Bnei Akiva Shaliach, with his wife Michal to Toronto. He brings years of experience in camping and informal education as well as unlimited energy and a deep sense of commitment and professionalism to everything that he does!
ROSH TZEVET
Zev Steinfeld, our past Rosh Sports, is a dynamic and popular Jewish studies teacher at the TanenbaumCHAT Kimel Centre, Zev coaches multiple sports including basketball at the senior and junior levels, baseball, ice hockey and even table tennis. Zev will oversee the staff and hiring of all Tzevet (staff) members through out the year and leading into camp. Zev will also help create and implement staff policies for the upcoming summer. He’s looking forward to a great summer & we are happy to have him back!
ROSH CHINUCH (Head of Educational Program)
We are thrilled to announce that Michal Reinitz will be returning to Moshava Ba'ir Toronto as Rosh Chinuch (Head of Education) this summer.
Michal brings with her years of educational experience, both formal and informal. While studying towards a B.Ed at Orot College, Michal spent her summers on Bnei Akiva's Mach Hach B'Aretz program, as a madricha, Rosh Bus, and a Rakezet. In addition, she was the Sganit on TVI (Bnei Akiva leadership seminar). As well, she served as the camp
coordinator for OU Israel's Machane Dror.
Michal, and her husband Yudie, are currently serving their second year as the Shlichim for Bnei Akiva of Toronto, directing youth programming
throughout the city.
ROSH SPORTS
Zvi Steinfeld, who was onboard as a member of our Sports staff last summer will be taking over the Head of Sports in 2012. Zvi is a passionate and talented athlete - being on the basket-ball team all four years of high school and captain of that team for the second two years. Zvi plays all sports including golf, hockey, basketball, baseball, football and soccer. Zvi is now the coach of Netivot HaTorah's boys basketball team.

ROSH EDAH (Division Head)
TOVA ROSENZWEIG has been involved in Bnei Akiva since she was a little girl. She spent many years at Camp Moshava Ennismore, as a counsellor and Rosh Breicha. She also worked for Bnei Akiva of Toronto and helped run many shabbatons for children of all ages. Tova is currently still working for Bnei Akiva of Toronto. Tova is currently studying Jewish Studies and Jewish Education at York University. She is excited for her first summer of learning, new experiences and fun at Moshava Ba’ir! Tova is gettimg married to Jeremy before camp starts and we cannot wait to have her as part of our team!
ROSH EDAH
Frayda Gershuni has a diploma in Early Childhood Education and many years of experience working with children. Frayda has been involved in Bnei Akiva since she was 7 years old, from attending weekly snif at her shul, attending Moshava Ennisemore as a camper and councillor, and serving as a counselor and Rosh Edah at Camp Stone in Sugar Grove, PA. Frayda is currently finishing her undergraduate degree in Health & Society at York University and works as an ABA therapist in Toronto. With her love for Bnei Akiva and her experiences working with children, Frayda is excited to pass on her experience and share in many new memories with the chanichim at Moshava Ba’ir this summer!
ROSH EDAH
Joseph Schwartz has agreed to join Moshava Ba'ir Toronto as a Rosh Eidah this upcoming summer! Joe has previously worked at Moshava Ennismore as a Rosh Eidah, Tripper and madrich for many years & and we can't wait for him to draw on his many experiences in Bnei Akiva. Outside of camp, he recently graduated from York University and spent two years studying in Israel.
Having Joe on board will help make this summer amazing for the staff and campers!

ROSH MEDIA
Shana Cohen will be returning for the summer of 2012! Shana Cohen was running around the camp last summer taking pictures and videos of the campers and staff and all their fun activities. Shana is also excited to have all of her kids come to MBT as campers this summer! Shana has a background in Advertising and PR, and we are happy to have her back along with her creative abilities.We are very proud of our camp and we want our parents to be able to get an idea of what goes on day to day here at Moshava Ba'ir. Shana will be uploading pictures to our website on a continuous basis. In addition, just like last summer, Shana will create a weekly movie full of pictures and videos focussing on the highlights of the week. The movie will be shown to all campers during our weekly oneg shabbat. Last summer, the campers really looked forward to it each week, and we are sure they will enjoy it this summer as well. Also - the movie will be linked through our newsletter so the parents can see it and get a real taste of what goes on at Moshava Ba'ir. We will be making other videos leading up to the start of camp. Shana is looking forward to the start of camp and capturing all the smiling faces once again.
ROSH BREICHA (SWIM)
Miriam Klein was our Rosh Breicha last summer & we could not be happier to welcome her back again for 2012!
During the year, many of you know her from the halls of Netivot Hatorah, where she work as a teacher in the Podolski NESS Department. She also taught Grade 4 and Grade 7, General Studies.
As a camper, she attended Moshava Ennismore and was very active in Bnei Akiva. Miriam served as a madricha in the BAYT snif for many years. During her last years of high school and through University she worked as an assistant head lifeguard in an overnight camp in Upstate New York. Last year she worked in Moshava Bair as the Rosh swim ensuring that all the campers and parents were happy with the swim program and the progress of their children. She was the liaison between the camp and the pool. This summer, she will be returning in the same capacity and is looking forward to encouraging all the children to swim and enjoy the fun of the pool while staying safe. Miriam got to know many of you over the summer last year and is looking forward to seeing you all back and welcoming the new campers to the pool.
MUSIC HEAD
Yehoshua Lavner is currently the Associated Hebrew Schools Music Director at the Posluns campus here in Toronto. He holds a Bachelors of Music Education from The Mason Gross Conservatory of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, with a concentration in Jazz. He is passionate about Judaism and inspiring children through music. Campers will be movin' and groovin' to Yehoshua Lavner's soulful and heartfelt music, while they enjoy learning the fundamentals of music theory and sing, dance and jam their way through an unforgettable summer of Jewish spirit!
ROSH RIKUD (DANCE)
We are thrilled to report that Rina Shainouse will be taking the position of Rosh Rikud (dance), full time dance specialist at Moshava Ba'ir. Rina grew up in Toronto, Canada. She started dancing at the age of four and has continued to dance throughout her university education. She attended York University in the Fine Arts Program, majoring in Dance. Rina has explored many genres and styles of dance. These include Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Tap, Acro, Hip Hop, African Jazz and others. Rina has performed in many International Dance Day Shows, was a part of a dance team located in the Bahamas, has participated in a number of flash mobs and has performed in various dance perfomances at York University. Rina has been teaching both children and adults at the Dance Place over the last four years. Last summer, she was the Rosh Rikud at Kadimah. Rina will be working with all our Chanichim full time this summer & she can't wait to meet them and dance with them!
NEW Specialty and Rosh Martial Arts - Tani Reiss
We are VERY excited to announce a new specialty this summer at MBT - Martial Arts. We are just as excited to announce our Rosh Martial Arts will beTani Reiss .
A native of the streets of Thornhill, 23 year old UofT student Tani Reiss divides his time very lopsidedly between his two loves, music and martial arts. With almost 17 years of experience and a black belt in okinawan karate, this card carrying member of Vaughn public libraries has devoted his life to teaching the fine balance of okinawan discipline and Jewish values. He also moonlights as a singer in kol neshama, a Jewish accapella choir out of york university's hillel, and occasionally as a dog walker and snow shoveler for his dear mother.
Julea Gasner returning as Rosh Melechet Yad
ýJulea Gasner is excited to be returning to MBT as Rosh Melechet Yad (arts and crafts) for a second great summer. Julea is developing a wonderful arts and crafts program to complement the chinuch (educational) themes of summer 2012 and is working on new and creative projects for the chanichim who choose Melechet Yad as their chug (elective).
Julea brings many wonderful qualities to the Melechet Yad program including years of camping experience from summers at Camp Shalom, Center Camp , King Valley Day Camp, Camp Walden and more.....
Originally from Toronto, Julea and her family now live in Karnei Shomron, Israel, having made aliyah in 2009.
NEW ROSH EDAH ALEPH - ILANA INDECH
ýIlana Indech is going to be a Rosh Eidah this summer at Moshava Ba'ir! Sheis very excited to be working at camp and can’t wait to meet all of her young campers.
Ilana has a Masters’ degree in elementary education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She taught grades one and two for eight years in the Jewish day school system in New York and Connecticut. She was also an Assistant Director of a Sunday hebrew school in New York City.
After graduate school, she lived and worked in Israel for two years. While in Israel she was the assistant director of a program called “Kefiada” that ran English speaking summer camps for Israeli children in development towns across the country. This experience gave her an opportunity to travel extensively throughout Israel and she gained valuable insight into the diversity of Israeli society.
As a child, Ilana spent eight years as a camper at Camp Ramah in Palmer, Massachusetts. She loved camp so much that she returned to Ramah as a counsellor.
Throughout high school she was actively involved in USY (United Synagogue Youth). Ilana was president of my USY chapter in Ottawa and sat on my regional board. As a university student, she was a madricha for USY trips to Israel and Poland and a USY youth group advisor here in Toronto as well as New York.
Get ready to have a fantastic summer!
ROSH HOCKEY - MATT SILCOFF
Moshava Ba'ir Toronto is thrilled to welcomeMatt Silcoff on board to run the hockey program this summer, as Rosh Hockey. Matt brings an impeccable pedigree of hockey skill and talent to our camp. Matt graduated from the TanenbaumCHAT Kimel Centre last year, where he helped the TCK Cougars win back-to-back York Region ice hockey championships, while setting records for the number of points scored in a season in the York Region Athletic Association. At 6-foot-1 Matt is a good blend of size and skill, and averaged a point per game in major Jr. hockey the past two seasons. Matt's exceptional hockey skill had him recruited and drafted while still in high school by both the London Knights and the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL. Matt is currently playing for the Vaughan Vipers in the Jr. A, leading the team in scoring, and co-coaching the TanenbaumCHAT Kimel Cougars in the YRAA who are undefeated on the season, while finalizing his plans next year to play ice hockey in the NCAA, the prestigious American University athletics program. Matt's experience and leadership on the ice means he has been taught and mentored by some of hockey's best, including ex-maple leaf Steve "stumpy" Thomas. We are thrilled to have a leader and player like Matt on board and look forward to some great fun on the ice, and exceptional skill development.
Rosh Drama returning for summer 2012!!
Saritte Perlman is really pumped to be returning to Moshava Ba'Ir this summer, as Rosh Drama full time. Saritte grew up in Toronto and is currently studying Biomedical Sciences and Theatre Studies at the University of Guelph. She grew up in Bnei Akiva, attending every week from Grade 3 onwards, she then moved on to become Rosh Snif, and Rosh Chevraya. Saritte has been a camper at many different camps including Moshava Ennismore, Kayitz BaKibbutz and more. Saritte realized her passion for the stage when she played Scar in the Centre Stage performance one summer. Since then, she studied Speech and Drama, receiving up to her Grade 7 Trinity College of London certificate for the Speech Arts. Saritte has competed many times in Speech and Drama and was selected to represent Toronto in the provincial competition 2 years in a row, placing 3rd and 2nd respectively. Saritte has lots of experience teaching, acting and coaching and cannot wait to be back this summer and see what all the creativity will produce.
Mia Guttmann is going to be Rosh Melechet Yad (arts and crafts) at Moshava Bair this summer! Mia is so excited to be returning to Moshava Bair Toronto this summer! After having such a GREAT summer last year she couldn’t resist coming back for another fun filled summer!
After graduating CHAT RH Mia spent a year in Israel learning at Midreshet Emunah V’Omanut, an arts school that combined Judaic studies and art. While in Israel she won the first place in the S. Daniel Abraham Program Art Competition for her depictions of the 4 mothers. Mia is currently studying Fine Arts, Art History and Judaic Studies at Stern College for Women in New York City. She divides her time between the wandering the vast halls of the MET and being a docent at the Yeshiva University Museum.
She can’t wait to meet everyone this summer! In the meantime have a chag kasher v’semach!
HEAD OF DAY CAMPS
Rabbi Menachem Hecht works out of Bnei Akiva of the US & Canada's NY office to plan and coordinate summer staffing and programming. Menachem is a doctoral candidate in education at New York University and has extensive experience in formal and infomal ed, having taught at the Frisch school in NJ, run the Julian Krinsky Yesh Shabbat camp in Philadelphia, and served as Rosh Moshava at Camp Stone. Most recently, he was the founding director of Moshava Ba'ir NJ, which serves as a model for our camp. He is thrilled to be part of this pioneering experience!
